Inventory Specialist Technician- DWP
As the Inventory Specialist Technician, you will be the clinical connection between the Pharmacy Operations Team and the Pharmacy Finance Team. You will be tasked with streamlining and improving processes in all portfolio pharmacies to meet strategic purchasing objectives as defined by the Pharmacy Finance Team while supporting efforts to monitor for potential diversion. This will be a support role that will require partnership with all stakeholders to create, improve, and monitor inventory processes and procedures.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with the Pharmacy Finance team and each pharmacy’s operational teams to support Pharmacy Finance strategic purchasing initiatives
- Maintain operational SOPs as it relates receiving and storing inventory
- Become the subject matter expert (SME) on the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) and ensure that all portfolio pharmacies are following operational processes to remain in compliance with the Act
- Work with pharmacy operations teams to ensure that the pharmacies are conducting cycle counts as required to maintain accurate perpetual inventories of all medications
- Provide on-site support to each pharmacy including physically conducting cycle counts and other needed processes at each of the portfolio pharmacies (Currently in Massachusetts- Athol, Gardner, Billerica, and Andover)
- Review daily orders and work with the Pharmacy Finance Team to ensure replenishment orders are appropriate for facility and clinical requirement of the Pharmacy Operation
- Monitor portfolio pharmacy’s out of stock orders to provide feedback to the Pharmacy Finance team on possible changes to purchasing strategies
- Using reporting and analytics as well as on site reviews, work with the pharmacy’s Manager of Record (MOR) to monitor for potential diversion and report quarterly on efforts to the Drug Diversion Committee
- Review daily inventory variance reports provided by Finance Department, update inventory drug record and/or drug pricing to accurately reflect invoice pricing
- Review and take necessary actions on all Drug Recall notifications received
- Educates pharmacy operational teams via written communication on drug shortages and outages, and works with operational management and others to provide suggested mitigations to these outages
- Review medication that has not been dispensed in a period of time at each site, and initiate a return to the wholesaler via best process including amnesty returns as allowed by our current wholesaler contract
- Ensure all pharmaceutical inventory is maintained in a clean, organized manner at all times within the respective Pharmacy Department
- Review daily orders and work with the Pharmacy Finance Team to ensure replenishment orders are appropriate for facility and clinical requirement of the Pharmacy Operation
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration (RPhT) Active and in Good Standing, Required
- National Pharmacy Certification (CPhT or ExCPT) Active and in Good Standing, Required
- Ability to travel to portfolio pharmacy sites as required
- 4 years’ Pharmacy experience required; pharmacy inventory experience preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately via both written and verbal communication
- Competency with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- High level of organizational skills
- Ability to understand and translate financial objectives into pharmacy operational deliverables
- Strong ability to partner with various levels of staff at each pharmacy including senior leadership, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians to execute objectives via collaborative processes
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing or sitting for up to 8 hours per day and lifting/moving moderately heavy deliveries
