Dignity Care Home Care of Indiana is currently recruiting Homemakers to support our clients and enable them to live safely in their homes.
PURPOSE/BELIEF STATEMENT
The Homemaker is a non-licensed individual who will be responsible for levels of client support that do not include direct, hands-on care. The Homemaker's support will keep clients safe and comfortable in their own homes.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with creating shopping lists
- May drive the client to the store or go to the store for the client
- Organize groceries
- Prepare meals according to the client’s restrictions and likes
- Assist clients with their errands
- Organize clothing
- Sort mail
- Water plants
- Housekeeping including: vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the refrigerator, taking out the trash
- Provide emotional support
- Conduct visits to clients as necessary and as scheduled per clients need
- Inform supervisors and/or emergency medical staff about changes in client’s health
- Provide verbal report on any changes in the client’s environment
- Attend mandatory in-services as required
- Report to immediate supervisor any and all complaints or allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation as soon as the complaint or allegation is made known
- Follow all Dignity Care Home Care policies and procedures
- Any other tasks/duties assigned by the Supervisor within the employee’s abilities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to do housework and cooking
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Positive and compassionate attitude
- Well-organized and reliable
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with no restrictions
- CPR certified
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s license or proof of other mode of transportation
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to provide Housekeeping and meal preparation
- Demonstrated good communications and public relations skills
- Demonstrated good verbal/written communication skills, knowledge of documentation requirements and service coordination
- Demonstrated ability to execute a supportive and sensitive approach to patient/family needs.
