Position Title: Nurse Practitioner with Mental Health Expertise
Position Summary:
Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Service (ACAPS), a leading medical practice dedicated to comprehensive mental healthcare, is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team and deliver compassionate care to a diverse patient population.
Job Responsibilities:
Outpatient Setting:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including history taking, mental status examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests (if applicable).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and others.
- Prescribe medications and manage medication regimens for mental health conditions.
- Provide patient education and counseling on coping mechanisms, healthy lifestyle choices, and mental health self-management.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records.
Inpatient Setting (if applicable):
- Collaborate with physicians on patient care plans for hospitalized patients with mental health conditions.
- Perform mental health assessments, including history taking, mental status examinations, and monitoring vital signs.
- Manage and adjust treatment plans as needed based on patient progress.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (if applicable).
- Educate patients and families about their condition and treatment plan.
- Document patient care comprehensively in the electronic health record (EHR).
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas.
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) or a related field.
- National certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a PMHNP in a combined outpatient and inpatient setting (or demonstrably relevant experience in mental health care).
