Machine Shop Laborer

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience with various tools and machinery. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential. The Laborer will contribute to the production process by ensuring general shop clean-up and maintenance, assisting fabricators with prepping material, grinding, running a drill press, and metal cutting using a band saw. Repetitive lifting required. The work schedule is7:00am-3:30pm M-F, but may include overtime and weekend work during busy production periods. Safety is a priority and you will be required to wear safety glasses (provided), with your own steel-toed boots.

Duties

• General shop clean-up and maintenance within the fabrication shop.
• Operate a drill press for various tasks.
• Assist fabricators with prepping material.
• Grind materials as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to set up tooling and fixtures as required.
• Measuring, cutting, and shaping metal pieces using powered saws, shears and grinders.
• Support the assembly line by performing manual labor tasks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations at all times.
• Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints and technical drawings.

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and machinery.
• Ability to read a tape measure and make accurate cuts.
• Forklift certified (preferred).
• Mechanically inclined with knowledge of shop safety practices.
• Ability to perform clean-up duties.
• Knowledge of specific use of shop equipment including drill press, various metal cutting saws, hand tools, framing square, and level is a plus.
• Ability to cut steel from prints.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing environments.
