Overview
As the Automotive Lab Technician, you will be responsible for conducting tests, experiments, and research related to automotive systems, components, and technologies. Your role will be to support the development of new products, improve existing designs, and ensure the functionality and safety of automotive components. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong interest in automotive technology and hands-on testing of components and tools.
Duties
- Conduct laboratory experiments and real-world tests on automotive systems and components, including Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems and wheel-related products.
- Assist engineers and R&D teams in the design, setup, and execution of test procedures to evaluate product performance, safety, and durability.
- Receive training on and operate a variety of testing equipment, including a vibration tester, salt-spray chamber, diagnostic tools, vehicle lift, and tire-mounting machine.
- Record and analyze test data, ensuring accuracy and integrity of results.
- Prepare and organize testing samples and materials, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and documentation for test results and project progress.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with automotive components and systems during testing using industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to refine test methods and improve testing procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to all lab safety guidelines and regulations.
Experience
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in an automotive repair center or tire shop is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
- This position requires that the individual is able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook Email, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Comfortable troubleshooting technical problems in-person and over the phone.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in a laboratory or automotive environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
