Schedule: Per the D.T.A. Collective Bargaining Agreement
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to plumbing
- Possession of current MA Journeyman Plumber license
- Possession of a current MA Master Plumber license
- An associate’s degree may substitute for one of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in plumbing*, and/or in vocational education.
- A bachelor’s degree may substitute for two of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in plumbing*, and/or in vocational education.
- Instruction will be in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Vocational Technical Education Frameworks for Plumbing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials and manipulating objects.
- Objects weighing 35-50 pounds lifted on occasion
Job Description:
- Organizes a program of practical and technical instruction involving demonstration of skills and application of theory. Plans and supervises the the work of students in shop, laboratory, and/or classroom. Tests, evaluates and documents the achievement of students in trade skill and techni cal knowledge with competency and task documenta tion.
- Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Demonstrates materials, equipment, tools and processes, using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids utilizing CBVE principles.
- Maintains an auditable record of student attendance and makes daily reports of students absent each period.
- Instructs pupils in use of eye and feet protection, safety guards, and appropriate safety precautions in the use, care, and operation of tools, machine, equipment, and the handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintains and updates the curriculum annually to current trade and industry standards using CBVE educational procedures.
- During school hours, instructor will control the storage, perform basic maintenance, distribution, and use of materials, supplies, and property to prevent loss, misuse, abuse, and theft.
- Maintains control of storage and use of school owned property; repairs and calibrates all program equipment to keep in good working order; or noti fies immediate supervisor when equipment is beyond the economical scope of repair and/or beyond the ability of the instructor to perform such repair, maintenance, or calibration.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct needed to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type class room and/or shop with many potential hazards.
- Keeps informed of the industrial community's job entry requirements and instructs pupils in the rudiments of getting and retaining these jobs and maintains contacts with the business community to keep informed of new innovations and job require ments which must be reflected in the curriculum in order to develop marketable skills as required by prospective employers.
- Evaluates each pupil's performance, knowledge and skills, and prepares CBVE progress reports.
- Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, equipment, tools, materials, supplies, and parts as required, working under established budget and procedures, and maintains required inventory and pricing records.
- Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities, etc...and must complete professional improvement in accordance with the requirements of the Massachusetts Department of Education and the DTA contract.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on the individual pupil's progress.
- Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Provides individual and group instruction appro priate to the needs of the pupil(s) and the requirements of the activities being performed.
- Performs those assigned duties as specified in the teachers contract, teachers handbook (manual), and teachers individual schedule.
- Actively participates in CBVE programs and main tains appropriate student records.
- Implements vocational/academic integration in all curriculum areas possible.
