Greenhouse Associate

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Greenhouse Associate to join our team in Lancaster, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of our greenhouse, ensuring the proper care and maintenance of plants, and supporting the growth and harvesting processes. You will work closely with the Retail Manager and other team members to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive environment, while utilizing your understanding of botany, physics, chemistry, and plant physiology to optimize plant health and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with planting, watering, and fertilizing plants in the greenhouse using scientifically backed methods
• Monitor plant health, applying knowledge of plant physiology to identify issues or pests, and notify the Retail Manager when necessary
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of greenhouse equipment
• Be adept at monitoring and adjusting environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and light levels for optimal plant growth
• Maintain accurate records of plant care, growth cycles, and inventory
• Clean and organize the greenhouse to ensure a safe and orderly working environment
• Support with the transportation of plants and products to designated areas
• Assist in greenhouse construction, maintenance, and repairs as necessary
• Help with the setup and breakdown of displays, if applicable
• Follow all safety protocols and environmental guidelines

Qualifications:

• Basic to advanced knowledge of gardening, plants and expertise in plant physiology is a plus
• Prior experience working in a greenhouse or gardening environment is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical stamina to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
• Basic knowledge of plant care, including watering, pruning, and fertilization
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude
• Must be willing to work in varying weather conditions and adjust to seasonal tasks
• Ability/willingness to use point of sale and register
• Customer service experience

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs regularly
• Comfortable working in fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand or bend for long periods

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
