Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for all production aspects of the project starting at the hand off from Project Management. This role requires a high level of collaboration with internal departments within DI, subcontractors, and clientele. The Project Engineer manages production schedule and purchases for all fabrication aspects, ensuring quality control and maintaining budget. This is a vital role in helping ensure that client satisfaction is achieved, and communication is effective among internal teams. While the Project Engineer role has no direct staff reports, this role has project-based leadership accountabilities and responsibilities with the entire Production team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to :
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously and effectively, of small to large scope, during all phases until project completion. Project volume for the PE 1 role will typically be projects with fabrication revenue up to $100,000.
- Assists Senior Project Engineer on large complex projects by focusing on smaller scope within the large project
- Serves as the primary contact between Production Team and Project Management and is responsible for maintaining the schedule, manufacturing budget and quality of the project
- Coordinates with Engineering and Project Management teams to ensure we are engineering project to budget and maintaining design intent
- Coordinates with Purchasing team as needed about any outside processes or subcontractors needed to complete project
- Reports rework to Director of Manufacturing Operations weekly for their specific jobs and records accordingly per the designated Production team process
- Partners with various internal teams as needed for successful project completion (i.e., Designers, Engineers, Project Managers, Production teams, etc.)
- Monitors and tracks project budgets, project quality and handles any challenges / issues that may arise pertaining to their specific jobs
- Seeks assistance from internal teams to determine and contribute solutions to challenges as they arise
- Updates project status and progress through use of Wrike software. Provides notes and drawings for efficient status update.
- Acts as the point of contact for the Production team and communicates project status with all internal departments, and all levels of the company as needed
- Reports and escalates any issues of concern to the respective department manager
- Collaborates with Project Engineering Manager, Production Supervisors and Project Managers to manage client requests, project production schedules and deliverables
- Follows protocol for internal processes
- Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration skills to all internal and external team members and continues to develop and enhance those skills
- Work with internal teams to estimate potential risks on a project
- May be required to go out of town for short periods of time to assist with project installs or client visits
