Summary/Objective of Position:
The radio announcer at Dine College plays a vital role in managing its broadcast operations while promoting its mission, programs, and community engagement initiatives. This position requires strong technical skills, social media expertise, on-air hosting abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality content to diverse audiences, including Dine College's campus communities, external sites, and external partners such as Tribal College Universities (TCUs).
Description of Essential Functions of the Position

- Social Media and Live Streaming: Maintain a strong social media presence to update online streams and integrate the radio station into the College's website. Facilitate live streaming to schools, organizations, internal programs, and TCUs to increase accessibility and generate strategic partnerships. Collaborate with web maintenance personnel to implement and manage online streaming programs while updating platforms like Facebook and other social media channels.
- Broadcast Operations: Operate the College's radio station, providing on-air coverage, hosting, and technical support for daily Utilize tools such as Adobe Audition, FTP FileZilla, and various audio formats critical to broadcasting services. Generate podcasts for students and faculty, archive programs for rebroadcasting, and ensure engaging, dynamic content reaches all intended audiences.
- Program Planning and Content Creation: Assist in planning, researching, writing, and producing programs for social media, press releases, and targeted marketing. Support the coordination of events and remote broadcasting efforts to promote outreach and college activities. Collaborate with marketing staff to foster leadership development and actively engage the community through radio and digital platforms.
- Technical Equipment Management: Manage and operate all broadcast and production equipment, including digital audio workstations, editing software, automation systems, and computer-based Maintain an inventory of existing equipment and ensure proper functionality through routine checks, such as taking transmitter readings and adjusting power levels when necessary- Troubleshoot issues to maintain a consistent and high-quality broadcast experience.
- FCC Compliance and Professional Standards: Exercise professional judgment and maintain internal accountability to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards, including FCC rules and maintain accurate records of station operations and implement best practices in adherence to broadcasting laws.
- Engagement and Professional Development: Participate in local, regional, and national radio associations to stay informed about broadcasting. Use this knowledge to elevate the station's programming and delivery. Work with College departments, including marketing and community relations, to expand station outreach efforts and strengthen partnerships
- Community and Campus Collaboration: Provide radio coverage for the Dine College campus communities and external Develop content that reflects the interests and needs of the College's diverse population. Facilitate programming that fosters engagement, education, and cultural enrichment within the community and beyond.
- Other Duties Assigned: Attend weekly marketing meetings and provide updates, update social media page, and summarize press releases. Assist with major events during the school year with audio, logistics, set up and monitor audio. Assist with staff for live stream events and capture audio for podcasts or rebroadcasts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
- The position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. However, due to the specialized nature of this role, qualifications place significant importance on professional experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in radio broadcasting is required, and this experience is heavily weighted in determining a candidate's eligibility for the position.
Preferred:
- The role requires practical expertise in on-air hosting, technical operations, content production, and community engagement, alongside strong cultural sensitivity and communication skills to effectively serve diverse communities.
- A combination of substantial professional experience and educational background is essential to meet the expectations and responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge:
- Strong marketing expertise with proven success in designing and managing recruitment-focused campaigns.
- Skilled in radio production, including live hosting and audio post-production.
- Expertise in operating and troubleshooting audio equipment, particularly P.A. systems.
- Highly adaptable, managing physical demands and flexible schedules, including off-site broadcasts and travel for outreach and community events.
- A seasoned radio announcer for this position must bring comprehensive expertise and relevant knowledge.
- Candidates are required to have a strong foundation in marketing principles, with the ability to create and execute strategic campaigns aimed at Recruiting, Enrollment, Retention, and Outreach.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:
- The position requires the ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, such as P.A. systems and other audio equipment.,
- The individual must also possess the physical agility to set up, disassemble, and transport equipment as needed for various events.
- The work environment is both off-based and event-centered, spanning indoor settings and outdoor venues depending on the nature of events and broadcasts.
- The candidate will frequently operate in environments requiring excellent adaptability and technical problem-solving skills to manage both live and recorded programming.
Other Requirement(s):
- Comprehensive knowledge of marketing concepts, with demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic campaigns.
- Strong technical expertise in radio broadcasting and audio equipment operations.
- Valid Driver's License, Navajo Speaking, but not required.
