Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Summary/Objective of Position:
Under the general supervision of the Human Resource Director, the switchboard operator will serve as the point of contact for all internal and external phone calls to the higher education institution. The Switchboard Operator is responsible for managing telephone communication and performing various clerical duties.

- Switchboard operator will answer and direct all incoming calls to the appropriate department and/or individuals within the college in institution.
- Switchboard operator will provide accurate information to callers and take clear messages. Handles multiple calls simultaneously.
- Switchboard operator will provide quality customer services by greeting incoming students, staff, faculty, and visitors in person or via telephone.
- Switchboard operator will maintain organization skills in being responsible for general appearance in the college switchboard area.
- Switchboard operator may handle incoming and outgoing mail and expected packages for the institution. Operator will make contact by email or phone on delivery of mail and/or packages for the department.
- Switchboard operator will create an excel internal log of all incoming and outgoing calls.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Human Resources Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- Previous experience in switchboard and clerical duties.
Preferred:
- High School Diploma required.
Knowledge:
- Must possess knowledge of college campus, including external campuses.
- Must possess knowledge of college departments and its resources.
- Must have knowledge of institution's mission, vision, vision and cultural values.
- Must have knowledge of the institution's emergency response protocols.
Skills:
- Must have great internal and external communication skills.
- Must possess great organizational skills.
- Must have skills in problem solving.
- Must have skills in various computer skills and xerox machines.
Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to work well with others.
Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:
- Work is performed in office setting with some travel between offices.
- May be stressful at times due to multiple projects and priorities.
- May deal with angry or upset visitors.
Other Requirement(s):
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
