What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cattle Supervisor position at Dinklage Feedyards?
– Provides leadership within the cattle department training, supervising, evaluating, and educating team members.
– Promotes purpose driven culture in Cattle Department and across organization to promote why we do what we do.
– Meets with veterinarian consultant to ensure optimal animal health and welfare of cattle.
– Communicates goals from veterinarian consultant across the department.
– Rides a horse through pens daily standing up every animal to determine its condition.
– Organizes and oversees the identification of sick animals.
– Doctors daily pulls within protocols set by Dinklage and Feed Yard Veterinarian. Makes decisions regarding animal health taking appropriate course of action to treat cattle.
– Returns treated cattle to home pens daily after treatment.
– Oversees the inspection of water tanks, pens, fences, and gates daily.
– Oversees accurate head count in all hospitals, railer, long bred, and buller pens; oversees moving and weighing railers and posting deads.
– Oversees the shipping and sorting of cattle.
– Assists in shagging cattle from large pens for processing.
– Oversees doctoring facilities, horse barns, and horse pens maintaining overall cleanliness of all facilities.
– Responsible for proper care and nutrition of own horses.
– Leadership, teamwork, communication, and efficiency are required as well as assisting in various departments of the feed yard when necessary.
– Acts as a leader of the Dinklage safety program implementing policies and procedures and keeps up to date with safety regulations and requirements.
– Professionalism is expected including courtesy and respect to team members, customers, and vendors.
– Additional duties may be assigned
