St. Vincent de Paul seeks a Truck Driver to perform a variety of task related to the pick-up of donated goods and merchandise, the delivery of those goods and the distribution of processed and unprocessed merchandise to the warehouse and the thrift stores. Minor warehouse duties as assigned as well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete assigned daily truck route each day in a safe and courteous manner
Load trucks safely to maximize load capacity
Project a professional, courteous image always
Handle merchandise in a safe and careful manner to ensure your safety and avoid damage to merchandise or property
Unload merchandise from trucks only to designated areas for the store and warehouse
Report problems or concerns to a supervisor as soon as possible. These include but not limited to policy violations, unauthorized stops, disagreements with merchandise acceptance or rejections, personnel conflicts, or anything of significant concern
Know and follow all guidelines for accepting or rejecting merchandise and use good judgement and analysis in making those decisions
Knowing and following all guidelines pertaining to truck operation standards and phone policies
Complete all paperwork and forms assigned to the driver for SVDP records and donors
Make calls to donors ahead of arrival time as instructed on pick-up slip
Handle continuing maintenance of the truck as designated by supervisor
Preforms daily duties as directed and other duties as assigned
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with donors, staff, and volunteers
Basic communication skill, good personal appearance, and hygiene
Ability to drive a box truck safely
Ability to move furniture
Ability to lift 75 lbs. to waist and 50 lbs. over head
Ability to climb ladders, steps, stairways, while maneuvering pickup and deliveries of furniture
Ability to read a map and use of GPs
Uphold the mission statement of SVDP
Good driving record with license in good standing
Certified Class D "chauffeurs license" is required
