Job Title: Head Varsity Football Coach

Job Summary:
The Head Football Coach will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director in accordance with Bethlehem Catholic's strategic mission. The position objective is individual character and adult staff development. The Head Football Coach must realize and appreciate the need for the football program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- All applicants must have a current resume with a fully completed application.
- Upon hire applicants will need to submit all required background checks indicated by state and federal law. Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1 year old.) As well as attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.
Primary Purpose:
Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in football. Contribute to the education program and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are competitive.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:
Knowledge:
- Must have experience or a desire to work in a Catholic school.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of PIAA rules.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.
- Utilization of technology is required.
Skills:
- The applicant must be able to communicate in spoken and written words to all stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Establish a strong rapport with all stakeholders, the community, and colleges/universities through positive representation and communication.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience as a head varsity football coach is preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in football.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
- Ensure that all football coaches work together toward a common goal within the football program and provide unity with a structured feeder system.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and regularly.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Work with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the coaching program and make changes based on findings and the program's ongoing needs.
- Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations regarding academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Maintain, file, and copy all pertinent PIAA materials, eligibility forms, transfer forms, and grade reports, and ensure that PIAA and diocese guidelines are followed. Ensure each student-athlete complies with PIAA rules and regulations before participating and completing.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, teachers, Athletic Director, and Principal.
- Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program.
- Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment, including the weight room.
- Annually establish and meet performance goals.
- Understand and articulate role in admissions, development, and advancement.
- The Principal/Athletic Director or his/her designee may assign other duties and accountabilities limited to those consistent with the applicable job function and pay grade.
