Description :
Under the direction of the Pastor and in accordance with established policies and procedures, assists with the planning, promotion, coordination, execution, and evaluation of the maintenance operations of the total plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General :
- Receives and follows written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor(s); completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate persons with an alternate plan
- Maintains confidentiality and diligently carries out job duties
- Must have a reliable means of transportation, proof of financial responsibility, must provide a copy of valid Driver’s license and proof of personal automobile insurance
- Maintains a good working relationship with supervisors and co-workers
- Able to effectively communicate with staff, vendors, and volunteers.
- Self-Starter with growing knowledge of maintenance and / or evaluating, repairing plant equipment
- Conducts annual maintenance evaluation of every facility each January
- Prepares annual major maintenance plan / calendar for approval and budgeting each February
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely and cost effective manner
- Prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently
- Observes safety and security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions
- Adapts to work environment changes; able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assign and monitor the work of any part-time assistants or volunteers for maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current valid Texas drivers’ license
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, painting skills, heating and air conditioning

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work sites for this position include St. James Church, Convent, Parish Hall (Kirwin Hall), and Rectory; St. Joseph Church, School (Religious Education Building), Rectory, Parish Hall (Cody Hall), and Garages; and St. Catherine of Siena Church and Rectory. Some duties at St. Catherine school may also be required as identified by the Pastor in conjunction with the school principal. The primary workplace for the Maintenance Director will be at St. Joseph’s church campus in the maintenance office next to Cody Hall.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and / or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
WORK HOURS for this position are regularly from 8 : 00am until 4 : 00pm (one hour unpaid for lunch) Monday through Friday. Occasionally evening or weekend added hours may be necessary.
