What are the responsibilities and job description for the Catholic Youth Camp Summer Staff position at Diocese of Des Moines?
Cabin Staff
Cabin Staff act as CYC's very own jack-of-all-trades and full-time mentors for all of our campers. These individuals spend the most direct time with a cabin out of all of the summer staff positions; serving as role models, listening-ears, conflict resolution mediators, and cheerleaders for our campers. Cabin Staff help with the facilitation of faith programming and small groups, as well as instructing campers in activities like confidence course, friendship bracelet making, and archery. Our Cabin Staff work hard to accompany each of the campers in their cabin (as well as the volunteer counselors) throughout their week at Catholic Youth Camp!
FOCA Staff
FOCA Staff (standing for First Aid / Office / Canteen / Activity) is our group of safety-oriented, certified facilitators. These individuals comprise our first aid, office / media, canteen / kitchen, and activity (high adventure / lifeguard) crew. FOCA Staff is responsible for the inner workings of CYC, but when they aren't on top of the tower or in the kitchen, you can find them assisting with faith programming and coordinating evening activities like Carnival and Talent Show.
