Babysitting Coordinator (5 - 10 hours per week)
St. Mary Parish is seeking a responsible and caring adult to provide a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled environment for young children (ages 6 months to 3 years) during Sunday morning Mass, and special events as needed. This role includes both direct care of children and coordinating a team of volunteers to ensure consistent and reliable coverage for the babysitting ministry.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for children in the babysitting room during designated hours.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including play, stories, and simple crafts.
- Ensure a safe and nurturing environment by following all child safety policies.
- Check-in and check-out children, maintaining accurate attendance records.
- Communicate with parents, providing updates and ensuring a welcoming experience.
- Clean and sanitize toys and play areas after each session.
- Coordinate and schedule babysitting volunteers, ensuring adequate coverage each week.
- Train and support volunteers, making sure they understand expectations and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Maintain volunteer records and communicate scheduling needs in advance.
- Must be at least 18 years old and have experience working with children.
- Strong organizational and communication skills for scheduling and coordinating volunteers.
- A warm, patient, and nurturing demeanor.
- Ability to create a safe and engaging atmosphere for children.
- Must complete Safe Environment training and pass a background check (as required by the Diocese).
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
