POSITION SUMMARY: Collaborate with the pastor in providing the advancement of pastoral ministry and spiritual growth to the parish. This will be done in accordance with the philosophy and policies of St. John the Baptist Parish.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Support the mission of St. John the Baptist Parish.
- Participate as a member of the parish team in parish planning and decision-making.
- Member of the Staff Leadership Team (SLT).
- Advocate a family and multi-cultural perspective in planning, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and ministries.
- Assist in the development and management of a predefined budget.
- Collaborate with parish staff and integrate evangelization into all parish ministries.
- Be a resource person to parish staff for pastoral related issues.
- Continue spiritual and professional development and renewal.
- Perform related work as required as well as weekend and evening work.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Pastoral Ministry & Spiritual Growth Department and staff.
- Liaison to Social Concerns Committee.
- Coordinate the CRHP retreat experience with the help of the Continuation Committee.
- Liaison to the New Member Experience Committee.
- Coordinate and accomplish the registration of new members to the parish community.
- Encourage and organize a variety of spiritual growth opportunities for parishioners.
- Identify and promote opportunities outside the parish for spiritual growth.
- Manage monies donated by parishioners for various Social Concern uses.
- Coordinate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter family preparation.
- Champion a Health and Wellness initiative.
- Organize the Annual Ministry Fair.
- Assist parishioners with SCRIP or other monetary needs.
- Connect parishioners with Helping Hands ministry.
- Collaborate with St. Vincent De Paul Council.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
- BA Theology, Pastoral Ministry or Religious Studies (or equivalency); experience relating to parishioners and sharing faith.
- Previous ministerial experience desirable.
- An understanding of Church structure, knowledge of religion and loyalty to the parish and community are essential components in relationships with the pastor, staff, parishioners, and community members.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of theology which can be translated into practical pastoral and liturgical situations.
