PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
While embracing the mission and vision of the Diocese of Green Bay, the Peer Support Specialist (PSP) will be providing support and build a sense of community with individuals participating in services at Catholic Charities. The PSP will utilize his/her own lived experience of mental health services or recovery to deliver peer-led groups (adults and children) and work individually with clients to develop natural supports among peers, and identify and address their support needs, including mental health and other psycho/social/spiritual needs. In addition, the PSP will be responsible for fulfilling all contractual requirements of funders and meeting outcome goals.

- Required high school diploma or equivalent.
- Self-identify as current or former recipient of mental health or other CC services and personal experience who can relate to others who are receiving those services.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting. Ability to assess and treat clients in a culturally competent manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Excellent writing skills and interpersonal skills.
- Good communication skills, such as active listening and using language appropriately.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to organize & prioritize work, take initiative, follow through and manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
- If in recovery, to have maintained sobriety for at least the most recent 2 years.
- Demonstrate stability of personal mental health concerns/ maintains treatment recommendations for mental wellness.
PREFERRED:
- Bilingual.
- Experience working with adults and/or children with mental health or recovery challenges.
- Experience working in a community-based setting for at least 1 or 2 years.
- Understanding of motivational interviewing, wellness/illness management, confidentiality, and strengths-based case management.
