Cardinal Newman High School, located in West Palm Beach, FL is searching for a full time Campus Minister. This position is Monday – Friday, 7 : 30 am – 3 : 00 pm; as needed, flexible schedule to facilitate retreats and service opportunities.

Summary :
Campus Minister is responsible for nurturing the spiritual life of students, faculty, and staff at Cardinal Newman High School by providing opportunities for faith formation, prayer, and Christian fellowship. The Director of Campus Ministry will coordinate and collaborate with the school administration to guide the school according to its mission.
Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities of the Director of Campus Ministry :
Forming a faith community : Facilitate an atmosphere of Christian hospitality where all feel welcome, based on Catholic faith, traditions, and ritualsCommunicate regularly with the president, principal, faculty, staff, students, and parents regarding campus ministry activities, programs, and projectsOversee the implementation and direction of the “Virtue = Strength” program, working closely with administration on how this program can best integrate into all aspects of campus lifeAcknowledge and celebrate religious diversity within the school communityProvide for prayer and sacramental opportunities : Create, organize, and oversee all schoolwide liturgy and prayer servicesOffer a variety of prayer experience – personal, communal, and seasonalProvide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and ReconciliationCoordinate liturgical celebrations including monthly masses, weekly masses, faculty masses, and Baccalaureate Mass with the president and local parish priestsRecruit and if necessary, train liturgical ministers, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, lectors, servers, and all other students involved with liturgical celebrationsAssist the choir and the choir director in the selection of appropriate sacred music that will enhance student participation at school liturgiesSchedule priests for Eucharistic liturgies and reconciliationPlan and teach instructional lessons to all Religion classes about Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist at the beginning of each school year, with a refresher at the start of the second semesterSchedule and plan the school’s daily mass schedule based on priest availability, including offering daily mass during flex periods when possibleCoordinate the use of the school chapel, including afterschool opportunities such as the Rosary, Adoration, Bible Study, etc.Coordinate and collaborate with Diocesan partners and local parishes to connect students with sacramental ministriesCommitted to spiritual growth : Organize, plan, and implement an effective retreat program for students, faculty, and staff that contributes to community building, faith development, evangelization, and leadership enrichmentPlan and implement overnight retreats (such as Emmaus) or other retreats for students desiring deeper spiritual growth (with assistance from religion department)Coordinate with partner schools to help lead a limited number of middle school retreatsProvide avenues for students to grow in their faith, give witness to that faith in the school setting, recruit liturgical ministers for school liturgies and prayer services, and offer creative ideas for prayer opportunitiesDevelop a commitment to service : Nurture students in social consciousness based on the Gospels and Catholic Social Teaching, empowering work for justice and service to the vulnerableOversee the school’s platform for student service hours; approve hours and provide feedback; work closely with non-profit partnersPlan and implement an annual “Service Fair” in order for students to engage with local area non-profit organizations and learn more about opportunities to serve in the communityPrepare future leaders of the Church : Encourage students to discern the vocation for which God has created themProvide opportunities for students to lead various activities to be prepared for vocation and leadership rolesCoordinate with the Diocesan vocations director to provide meaningful opportunities for students to discern a call to the religious lifeWill perform other duties as assigned by the principalEmployee Specific Dispositions :
