The minimum experience and training may be gained through college courses in the humanities,
social work and psychology. Education may be substituted with progressive experience in the
Human Services field. Advanced education may be used in lieu of residential experience.
The individual must be of good moral character, dependable, reliable and emotionally stable. The
individual must be able to pass a physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter.
He/She must possess a current driver’s license and must have access to an insured automobile while
on duty.
The individual must consent to a FBI fingerprinting, State Police and a Childe Abuse History
Clearance and all the other requirements set forth by the Diocese of Scranton. He/She must provide
complete details of any arrest and/or convictions records they may possess, and their dispositions.
He/She must consent to random drug and alcohol testing.
The individual must possess current certification for CPR, AED and First Aid. If not, the individual
will have thirty (30) days upon date of hire to acquire these certifications, at the cost of the Agency.
The Diocese of Scranton requires that all employees complete an initial Virtues Training program,
designed to empower organizations and people to better control risk of improve lives of all those
who interact with Church. Employees will also be required to monitor the VIRTUES website and
complete any internet updates as they become assigned. Employees must also complete all other
trainings program, out services, in-services, conferences, seminars, conventions, etc., as assigned by
their Supervisor.
Description/Job Summary
- This individual is directly responsible to Program Supervisor. This individual will be
Management staff. Their primary nightly duty will be overseeing the welfare and safety of
all Veterans housed in the St. Francis Commons Program.
- This Full time position will have a 40hr. work week and complete compensatory/overtime in
week on site Monday-Friday from 12:00 am-8:00 am, daily. This schedule may vary slightly
at the Program Supervisor's Discretion based on staffing availability/program need.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Maintain facility life in a harmonious and close to normal environment as possible. Free of
- Maintain effective day-to-day operations of the residential facility. Enforce all program
- Supervise all residents with activities of daily living.
- Assist in carrying out the residents’ individualized goal plans.
- Work closely with and report resident activities and issues to Case Manager, Program
- Complete any/all assigned facility paperwork/reporting.
- Monitor all residents’ medications-those as prescribed by their physicians and any over-thecounter.
- Document and initiate drug and alcohol testing, as needed.
- Review resident intake packets.
- Maintain accurate records for each resident.
- Work closely with the Program Supervisor and Case Managers to provide input with regards
- Assist each resident to develop a sense of dignity and responsibility and to motivate them to
- Complete intake and discharge paperwork as assigned.
- Participate in Program Review Team (PRT)meetings. PRT is a multi-disciplinary team

- Report on time at the start of assigned shift and to participate in shift to shift report.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Attend all assigned in-services, out-services conferences, trainings and intra-agency
