MAINTENANCE 1 POSITION
The Diocese of Scranton is looking for a dependable and experienced individual to perform general maintenance duties and responsibilities primarily at the Chancery Building and Diocesan Pastoral Center located in downtown Scranton. A basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and fire systems is required. Seasonal responsibilities include grass cutting, landscaping and snow removal. This is a full-time position with a competitive benefit package and the salary will commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
· Daily pick up/delivery of mail from/to Post Office.
· Daily rounds to check equipment and property, Chancery, Diocesan Pastoral Center and Grounds.
· Minor repairs to Building and Equipment i.e. Change bulbs, repair plumbing fixtures, painting, HVAC filters/leaks, etc./Completing Maintenance Requests.
· Daily securing of building at end of day.
· Delivery of received packages/supplies.
· Requests from Chancery office (i.e. delivery of packages, Diocesan car care, etc.
· Intermittent delivery of bulk mail items to main Post Office).
· Various Housekeeping items when necessary (i.e. sweeping, spot cleaning, polishing, trash pickup, etc.).
· Be involved in other Diocesan Facilities if necessary including the Villa St. Joseph.
· Ensure integrity of Other Diocesan property (i.e. St. Mary’s Convent).
· Purchase supplies from various retail outlets for use in Diocesan buildings.
· Tracking of needed supplies such as Housekeeping, etc.
· Seasonal: grass cutting, landscaping, snow removal.
· Ability to perform duties on Saturday and Sunday if necessary.
· All other duties as assigned.
Experience:
· Ability to use basic hand tools in order to complete necessary work.
· Ability to climb using ladders, etc.
· Ability to follow directions.
· Ability to multi-task by prioritizing needs.
· Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
· Ability to lift, pull, push items 50-75lbs.
· Ability to recognize needs and take initiative to correct seeking direction when needed.
· Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, fire systems, hot water systems, heating systems.
· Possess a valid PA Driver’s License without restrictions.
· 3 years in similar position.
Education:
· High School Diploma
· Technical training desirable
