Description
The individual will possess a demonstrated commitment to working with homeless persons and providing social services networking to prevent them from becoming homeless again. This position entails working a scheduled 13 hour shift (7 : 00 pm to 8 : 00 am) at an adult only shelter for homeless men and women. Four hour shifts are also scheduled with this position. Approximately 20 to 26 hours per week are scheduled for the Shelter Worker. The Shelter Worker must be able to work upon short notice to cover any open shifts.
Responsibility
The Shelter Worker is responsible to run the nighttonight operation of the homeless shelter and assist in the progress and tracking of all case management clients at the Shelter. Training is provided. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum experience / training must be a high school diploma with preferred experience gained from actual work in residential program setting group home correctional facility.
- Some weekends and holidays are required.
- The candidate must possess the ability to work independently. Good writing and computer skills are necessary.
- Applicant must be at least 21 years of age pass all criminal and child abuse clearance checks.
- Applicant will also be subject to fingerprinting and have a clear criminal record. The candidate must consent to random drug and alcohol testing. All CSS employees are required to complete an initial VIRTUS training. VIRTUS is a program designed to empower organizations and people better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church. Employees will also be required to monitor the VIRTUS website and complete monthly internet updates as assigned.
