Guidance Counselors are witness the tenets of the Catholic Faith, instill a sense of Christ's mission, charity and service to others; draw the school community into worship and build, support and maintain a Catholic culture throughout the school and create a vibrant Catholic culture, emphasized through words, deeds, manner of dress and actions.
Job Responsibilities
- Offers Comprehensive school counseling program that meets the needs of students academically,
socially / emotionally, and career following the ASCA model.
Holds developmental counseling groups and other activities for grade levels throughout the year.Consults with and provides resources to teachers in their facilitation of instruction.Assists in implementation, delivery and analysis of all school-wide testing programs.Participates in staff and parental meetings to discuss student academic and social development plans and strategies for improvement.Provides opportunity for teacher and parent education programs; assist families with school-related issues.Make referrals, when necessary, in conjunction with the parents and in consultation with the teachers and principal to special programs and specialists such as psychologists, service agencies and physicians as needed.Other duties assigned by the PrincipalMaster's degree in School Guidance and Counseling.Certification in School Counseling in the State of Florida or eligibility to obtain such licensure.Strong understanding and knowledge of current counseling methods and educational pedagogy.Excellent communications skills both written and oral.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.Proficiency with computer network systems and software programs.Strong planning and organizational skills.Complete and pass a FDLE Level 2 background check.
