Dircks Moving & Logistics is seeking a Safety Manager who will be involved in interactions with our customers, operations, and customer support while ensuring we deliver the highest quality service to our customers.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
This position will oversee compliance of all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety (FMCS) requirements and regulations. This position will also oversee our warehouse safety as well as our Food Grade certification.
- Compliance Program Management: Develops, plans, implements, and controls compliance programs across all facilities.
- Investigations and Reporting: Conducts investigations, prepares reports, and maintains records for compliance and safety.
- Insurance Coordination: Manages insurance coverage for company assets and services, including handling vehicle and property damage claims.
- Risk Management: Advises on corrective actions to mitigate exposures and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Motor Vehicle Safety: Establishes and enforces motor vehicle safety best practices at all facilities.
- Policy Documentation: Documents standard operating procedures and assists in creating required company policies.
- Safety and Equipment Maintenance: Ensures safe work conditions, provides safety training, and maintains high equipment standards.
- Audit and Inspection Preparation: Prepares materials for audits, inspections, and information requests from insurance carriers and government agencies.
- Driver Qualification and Planning Support: Works with the Long Haul Planner on Driver Qualification Processes and serves as a backup when needed.
- Safety Committee Involvement: Serves as the single contact for UniGroup Safety, participates in the Quality Committee, and communicates updates to crews.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has the authority to make decisions with regard to driver and crew employment with approval of Vice president of Operations and Human Resources.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree (BS or BA) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or eight to ten to years related industry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have Warehouse or Logistics experience.
Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office word processing software, as well as Cisco phone systems, and MoversSuite.
