Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Broadband Plant Auditor to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our broadband network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying the physical plant from patch panels in cabinets and central offices to the demarcation (DMARC) location at customers' premises. The Broadband Plant Auditor will also play a key role in mapping and tracing fiber routes, conducting network integrity assessments, and collaborating with various teams to maintain high standards of compliance and safety.
SALARY: $23 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Verification of Network Infrastructure: Perform comprehensive verification of broadband physical plant components, including fiber splicing, splice case locations, and handhole locations, from patch panels in cabinets and central offices to the DMARC locations.
- Mapping and Tracing: Accurately map fiber routes and maintain up-to-date records to ensure the integrity of network documentation.
- Network Integrity Assessment: Conduct regular assessments of the network infrastructure to identify and rectify discrepancies from existing records, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with construction, operations, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of physical plant data into network management systems and facilitate effective communication among teams.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations during verification and mapping activities to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing processes and methodologies related to physical plant verification, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fiber optics splicing and physical plant verification.
- Strong understanding of fiber network components, including buffer tubes, patch panels, and physical fibers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering positive relationships with colleagues across departments.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in telecommunications, fiber optics, or a related field preferred.
- Splicing experience, preferred.
- Relevant certifications in fiber optics (e.g., FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician) are a plus.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the telecommunications industry is highly desirable.
