Job Description
The GIS Analyst I is responsible for supporting Geographic Information System (GIS) operations through data management, analysis, and map production. This entry-level position involves assisting in the digitization of spatial data, managing records, and providing technical support.
SALARY: $24 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-Day Digitizing: Perform regular digitization of spatial data to maintain and update GIS databases.
- Records Management: Manage and organize GIS records to ensure accurate and accessible data storage.
- Data Conversion: Convert various data formats (CSV, Shp, KMZ, DWG) to ensure compatibility with GIS systems.
- Data Migration: Assist in migrating data between different systems and formats as needed.
- Basic Data Analysis & Geoprocessing: Conduct basic data analysis and geoprocessing tasks to extract valuable insights from GIS datasets.
- Web Map Production & Field Map Management: Create and maintain web maps and manage field mapping applications for data collection and visualization.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Serve as a contact for troubleshooting GIS-related issues and provide technical support to users.
- Technical Writing: Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and basic training materials related to GIS operations.
- Georeferencing: Perform georeferencing of spatial data to ensure accuracy and alignment with existing datasets.
Qualifications & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in GIS or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Basic understanding of data analysis and geospatial concepts.
- Familiarity with data formats (CSV, Shp, KMZ, DWG) and conversion processes.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills for technical writing and user support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of web mapping technologies is a plus.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings
