What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Litigation Special Counsel Attorney position at Direct Counsel?
This full-time, non-partner track role supports the firm’s Construction Practice Group. The position is open to attorneys with 2-5 years of litigation experience, with a preferred location in Tampa. Candidates in Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, and Tallahassee will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a high volume of cases, including matters proceeding in arbitration rather than circuit court.
- Conduct discovery, draft motions, and argue motions in court.
- Handle mediations, arbitrations, and litigation of insurance claims, construction and design defect claims, and related matters.
- Participate in depositions, trials, and settlement negotiations.
- Collaborate with and oversee paralegals and support staff.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- JD from an ABA-approved law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- 2-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in construction-related matters.
- Proven track record in settling cases and managing casework independently.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Experience with mediation, arbitration, and construction-related claims is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
