About the Role:
Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to join a well-established law firm. The ideal candidate will have broad experience with federal and state energy regulatory matters, particularly within the renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, storage, and energy transition industries such as hydrogen, carbon, electric vehicles, and microgrids. Experience with oil and gas regulatory matters is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise developers, sponsors, lenders, tax equity, cash equity, and other investors on regulatory matters in complex development and finance transactions.
- Assist with equity and debt financing, mergers & acquisitions, and project document negotiations, including power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and shared facility agreements.
- Manage client relationships and oversee projects with a high level of independence.
- Provide regulatory guidance for transactions in emerging and traditional energy sectors.
Qualifications:
- JD from an ABA-approved law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Bar in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
- Strong experience in energy regulatory law, with a focus on renewable energy and energy transition sectors.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and exceptional work ethic.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $350,000 - $475,000 (dependent on experience and location).
