Intellectual Property Associate Attorney – Patent Prosecution
Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate to join a leading national law firm in Chicago, Denver, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., or Wilmington.
About the Role:
This is a great opportunity for a junior patent associate to work with a highly regarded Intellectual Property group. The ideal candidate will have a technical background and experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO
- Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses
- Collaborating with clients to develop IP strategies
- Assisting in patent litigation and post-grant proceedings as needed
Qualifications:
- 1 to 3 years of patent prosecution experience
- Background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (or equivalent technical expertise)
- Engineering degree preferred
- USPTO admission and state bar admission required
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Collaborative, client-focused mindset
Compensation & Benefits:
- Anticipated salary range: $160,000 – $255,000, based on experience and location
