What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Finance Associate Attorney position at Direct Counsel?
Direct Counsel is seeking a Public Finance Associate to join a top-tier Finance Practice Group in Chicago, Detroit, Houston, or Milwaukee. The firm has a nationally recognized public finance practice, particularly in Healthcare Finance, Economic Development, Housing, TIF and Special Assessment, Infrastructure, and Education. Attorneys in this group represent borrowers, issuers, financial institutions as underwriters and direct purchasers, and credit and liquidity providers on public finance transactions.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of public finance experience
- Mid-level bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel experience
- Experience working with state agencies, municipalities, and governmental entities
- Basic understanding of tax, securities, UCC, and contract law as applicable to public finance
- Law school course concentration in business law preferred
- Strong drafting, analytical, organizational, and matter management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
- JD from an ABA-approved law school and active bar membership in the relevant jurisdiction(s) (or timely admission upon hire)
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $260,000 - $350,000, with actual pay based on experience and other job-related factors
