Job Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing daily shipping activities, ensuring efficient handling of both domestic and international shipments. This role focuses on optimizing shipping processes, ensuring compliance with international regulations, and managing carrier relationships. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in shipping operations, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to train and lead a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Shipping Operations Management
- Oversee daily shipping operations for domestic and international shipments.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize shipping processes and reduce delays.
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and customs requirements.
- Track shipments and ensure accurate documentation for third-party billing and international shipments.
- Maintain shipping records and generate reports for management as needed.
Carrier & Logistics Coordination
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including customs brokers and carriers.
- Manage relationships with shipping carriers, including UPS, and proactively address any shipping issues.
- Resolve shipping delays, particularly international holds related to customs documentation, such as Power of Attorney (POA) requirements.
- Implement and manage bulk processing of shipping labels using distribution lists to streamline operations.
Team Leadership & Training
- Train and manage shipping staff to maintain high levels of performance and adherence to company standards.
- Conduct shipping audits and manage claims processing to ensure accurate billing and recover costs when applicable.
Qualifications – Education, Experience, License/Certifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping management.
- Extensive knowledge of international shipping, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Experience with UPS shipping processes and third-party shipping practices is a plus.
- Experience with shipping audits and claims processing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in shipping software and logistics platforms.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move within the warehouse for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse setting, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
The base compensation range for this full-time position is $68,640 - $80,000 per year plus benefits. Compensation ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The pay range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
