Job Description

The purpose of completing an orthopedic physical therapy residency at Direct Orthopedic Care (DOC) is to advance clinical expertise, professional development, and patient care excellence. Our residency program aligns with the principles and guidelines established by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and is designed to foster comprehensive growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Program Goals & Objectives

The objective of the orthopedic physical therapy residency is to enhance clinical expertise by providing advanced training in areas such as manual therapy, dry needling, and pain management, while fostering evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes.

It supports professional development by preparing residents for Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification, cultivating leadership skills, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. The residency emphasizes patient-centered care through individualized treatment and the integration of patient education. Additionally, it encourages participation in research and innovation, promoting clinical research and the dissemination of findings within the orthopedic field.

Residents will receive 150 hours of one-on-one mentoring, case reviews, and research discussions, along with quarterly evaluations to guide clinical skill development. The program also features 300 hours of didactic learning through online and in-person sessions, access to APTA resources, MedBridge, and continuing education. Hands-on training in advanced techniques is provided across various clinical settings. Additionally, career guidance and support for personal well-being are integral to fostering both professional and personal growth.
