What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aerospace Precision Engine Assembly position at Direct Technology (now Averro)?
We’re looking for a skilled technician to support the precision assembly, testing, and development of rocket engine components, including combustion devices, valves, turbomachinery, and avionics. You’ll play a critical role in building, troubleshooting, and validating flight and test hardware in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and inspect precision hardware to tight tolerances (up to 0.0001")
- Perform diagnostic disassembly, repair, and rework
- Conduct hydraulic, leak, environmental, and structural testing
- Define test and flight preparation procedures
- Support design, integration, and maintenance of custom tooling and test equipment
- Ensure oxygen-compatible cleanliness standards
- Help develop and refine manufacturing processes and documentation
- Identify and address non-conformances, supporting corrective actions
- Collaborate on DFMA/PFMEA efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- 4–6 years’ experience in valve, turbomachinery, or engine assembly
- Expert in precision assembly and interpreting technical drawings
- Strong skills in process development and technical documentation
- Proficient in CAD, Excel, issue tracking, and general office software
- Excellent communicator and team player
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally authorized refugee/asylee

- Flexible to work overtime and weekends as needed
