Position Summary:
We are seeking a caring, compassionate, mission driven Peer Mentor to play an integral role of support, coaching and guidance for families involved in the child welfare system in Pinellas County. The Parenting Peer Mentor will serve as a team member in the shared decision making process and service provision to families to aid in completing their case plan. The Parenting Peer Mentor will be assigned to work with parents with a substance abuse, mental health or co-occurring mental health & substance abuse concern and serves as a system navigator who supports the parent in recovery. The mentors have been in recovery for a minimum of 6 months and ideally have children who have been in the child welfare system.
Directions for Living is an essential services provider. All Directions for Living employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services to the people that we serve in the event of an emergency, pandemic or other disaster situation. Essential employees may be required to work in the field, be "on call" and/or be available and able to work remotely providing telehealth services depending on the needs of the individual being served.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Experience in social services is preferred.
