Description
- Provide Oracle database and Oracle WebLogic support running on Solaris and UNIX.
- Provide temporary administrative support of existing Oracle standalone (11g and 12c) database environments.
- Install and configure Oracle on Linux, with possible future installation on Windows servers.
- Migration of existing 11g/12c databases to Oracle 19c, then provide support to migrated 19c databases.
- Apply quarterly updates and patches to Oracle instances.
- Provide on-call support for applications as requested.
- Research and analyze emerging Oracle database technologies, techniques, and protocols.
- Provide ongoing progress to leadership, system owners, and peers regarding health of the various Oracle environments.
- Basic monitoring and tuning using Oracle Enterprise Manager and other utilities.
- Assure the performance of an Oracle database.
- Backing up and recovering databases, using RMAN and data pump
- Ensure continuity and availability of the database. Use Oracle's native backup and restore features and other third-party tools.
- Basic understanding of database security issues
- Should be aware of roles, profiles, user accounts, object- and system-level privileges, and related concepts.
- Database design
- Be familiar with database normalization, at least up to the third normal form.
- Knowledge of DBMS series of packages
- Understand the purpose behind the DBMS series of packages that come bundled with Oracle.
- SQL and PL/SQL
- Use PL/SQL to create jobs or stored procedures or to query underlying system tables.
- Familiarity with TOAD a plus, but not a requirement
- Must work well with and maintain rapport with co-workers and customers.
- Security Certification
- Preferred Education and Experience: BA/BS with 5 years relative experience
