Agency Overview:
DISC Village, a non-profit community-based agency, has been in operation for over 50 years and is one of the largest and most comprehensive prevention, intervention and treatment agencies in Florida. Through the years, DISC Village has become recognized as a leader in the state for initiating, managing and coordinating substance abuse prevention/intervention, family welfare and delinquency programs in Leon County and North Florida.
The Juvenile Assessment Center is part of the Youth Services unit which offers an array of comprehensive services for individuals under the age of 18. These programs provide a composite of assessment, case management, intervention, outpatient, and other community and school-based services for adolescents with delinquency and substance abuse issues.
We are looking for a Correctional Officer to work the 3-11 pm shift, may be needed on other shifts as needed. Expected to work 40 hours a week.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Booking juvenile offenders
- Providing supervision and other duties that pertain to the security of the youth and the facility
- Perform physical demands such as standing, lifting, and passing required trainings
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Maintain positive interactions with community partners in the area of law enforcement, juvenile courts, and state agencies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preference is given to applicants with possession of a valid state of Florida Correctional Officer Certificate.
- Prior experience as a Correctional Officer or experience working in a state-run detention or residential setting providing care, custody, and control of youth.
