DISC Village, a non-profit community-based agency, has been in operation for over 50 years and is one of the largest and most comprehensive prevention, intervention and treatment agencies in Florida. Through the years, DISC Village has become recognized as a leader in the state for initiating, managing and coordinating substance abuse prevention/intervention, family welfare and delinquency programs in Leon County and North Florida.
We are seeking compassionate Crisis Counselors to provide comprehensive support to individuals, families, and groups affected by disasters. This role involves outreach, emotional support, crisis counseling, public education, and community networking. This is a full-time, seasonal role with an expected duration of approximately 9 months.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide outreach, emotional support, and individual and group crisis counseling. Offer public education and make referrals as needed.
- Represent the program in the community and network with other agencies and partners to meet survivors' needs.
- Deliver presentations to community groups on disaster reactions, coping skills, stress management, and the Crisis Counseling Program (CCP).
- Complete program forms promptly and submit them for supervisor review and data accuracy.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Valid State of Florida Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
- Willingness to use personal vehicle for work-related travel (travel reimbursement available).
