Key Responsibilities:
- Front Desk Operations:
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients of the Psychiatry Department, both in-person and via phone.
- Answer and direct calls professionally, providing accurate information about psychiatric services and appointments.
- Welcome and orient patients with empathy and understanding, ensuring a positive and supportive experience.
- Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor as the “face” of the department.
- Clinical Coordination for Psychiatry:
- Schedule and manage appointments specifically for psychiatrists, ensuring a well-organized daily calendar.
- Assist psychiatrists with e-prescriptions and act as a liaison with pharmacies to address and resolve medication-related issues.
- Monitor patient care plans and coordinate follow-up actions with psychiatrists to support continuity of care.
- Maintain clear communication with patients about medication updates, appointments, and any other psychiatric-related clinical needs.
- Administrative Duties:
- Manage patient records for the Psychiatry Department with strict confidentiality and precision.
- Use EMR systems and scheduling software effectively to ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare reports and maintain documentation using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Handle clerical duties, such as managing correspondence and coordinating with other staff, as needed.
- Mental Health Patient Support:
- Understand and address the unique needs of mental health patients, providing compassionate and professional interactions.
- Collaborate closely with the psychiatry team to ensure patients feel supported and informed.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered and empathetic approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with EMR and scheduling software.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting is highly preferred.
