We are embarking on a significant digital transformation programme, changing the way we deliver services to our customers, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the end-to-end service, providing digital channels for customers to support the Government’s digital strategy.
The Role
The DBS Digital is a high-performing team which has delivered several online products for customers.
We are looking for enthusiastic data engineers who are self-motivated and self- managed who are skilled in the design, build, test and maintenance of data management systems making sure they meet business and user needs.
You will use your technical skills to design, create, implement and maintain design specifications, data models (logical and physical for system of record, data marts) and system performance administration. You will also develop and maintain Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards and visualisations that support the business to make data driven decisions.
You will develop a working understanding of the development life-cycle, creation and maintenance of the data warehouse service.
You will be part of a multi-disciplined digital team, working closely with the other data engineers, data architects and developers and the product owner to enhance and expand the capability of our Enterprise Data Warehouse product.

- Work as part of a wider directorate management team, bringing together skills and expertise into a single, coherent and enabling directorate.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of the Common Logical Data Model and the physical data models for the System of Record, Data Marts under direction from the Senior Data Engineer and Data Architect.

- Experience in data analytics as a data engineer or related roles such as business intelligence
- Experience in writing ETL scripts and code
- Ability to handle data - Extract, Transform, Load using SQL
- Experience of Oracle OBIEE/Discover (or similar)
- Use of concepts such as, metadata, indexing, data modelling and master data management
- A good knowledge of data interrogation techniques
- Able to work closely with stakeholders at all levels. Able to communicate technical concepts verbally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences.
