What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Designer, Design Systems position at Discord?
Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform : play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. The Design Systems team is a cross-functional team that ensures design quality across all facets of UI, content, and graphics. As a part of the team, you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of the design system that all product designers, engineers, and product managers use to design & develop at Discord. Using your full range of interaction, visual, and prototyping skills, you will own creating a coherent and ownable look & feel for our desktop and mobile experiences.
As a qualified candidate, you have experience contributing to systems projects that deliver value to users and the business. You collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including engineers, and communicate ideas clearly. You approach problems with a systems mindset, considering how solutions fit into a cohesive whole. You can articulate design decisions and rationale to a variety of stakeholders and work closely with product teams to adapt and apply systems to meet specific product needs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Contributing to and maintaining components, patterns, and templates
- Collaborating with product designers & engineers to ensure successful contributions
- Supporting the adoption of system elements by sharing your work and presenting it cross-functionally
Assist in migrating and deprecating legacy elements
Provide support and guidance in customer support channels
