Senior Software Engineer - Alerts

The Alerts team is a brand new team that will be responsible for building both the platform for sending billions of notifications every day and the user experiences to control how they want to be notified. The platform will be a single pipeline that intelligently chooses which notifications to send as well as when and how to send them.We’re looking for a founding engineer that has a strong product sense, strong sense of metrics and scale, and fearlessness in tackling large problems. You’ll be working with highly experienced engineering peers, cross functional partners, our highly experienced infrastructure teams, and supporting all other teams at Discord.What You'll Be DoingBuild the platform that enables all other teams in the company to send delightful notifications while delivering the maximum value to our usersBuilding delightful products with a very high bar for quality, performance, and a focus on impactHelping find the right solutions that balance delight, speed of delivery and impactWhat you should haveYou have 5 years of experience as a Software EngineerYou have experience in metrics driven teams and / or shared infrastructureYou are comfortable jumping between backend and making changes to our frontend codeYou are eager to learn new languages and frameworks, and are comfortable working across the full stack when neededYou’ve worked in team with clear metrics goals and had a measurable positive impact on customersYou have a strong product sense and take pride in sweating the details of great UXYou are motivated to help your team members succeed and grow and learn from each other through empathetic feedbackBonus PointsYou are a Discord user, and understand the core features and flow of Discord communicationsYou have previously built a notifications or email orchestration system#LI-RemoteThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000 to $201,500 equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
