Job Overview

Discount Freight & Grocery cashiers create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe and clean work environment that encourages our customers to return.

Job Responsibilities:

• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly and sincere manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Manage transactions with customers using the point of sale system.
• Engage is suggestive selling with customers.
• Calculate and return change according to company standard.
• Bag items accurately and efficiently and ensure that customers leave with all their bags.
• Scan products and ensure pricing is accurate.
• Thank customers for shopping with us in a sincere and friendly way.
• Process returns and exchanges according to Discount Freight & Grocery’s company standards.
• Maintain adequate change in the cash drawer and request additional change when necessary.
• Answer customer questions about products or services.
• Maintain checkout areas to company standards.
• Reconcile cash drawers and sales receipts.
• Report any customer, sales or equipment issues with the manager.
• Assist in stocking merchandise.
• Stay up to date on merchandise promotions, advertisements and product information
• Standing for long periods of time while maintaining an exceptional attitude.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Experience / Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Independent Judgement:

• Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needed assessments. Uses judgment to achieve desired results while conforming to company standards. Makes constructive recommendations that may affect policies, procedures, and practices.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Continuous growth allowed us to relocate in 2018 to Ozark, building a 30,000 sq. ft. retail store which serves more and more people every year! Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
