The After School Director is responsible for ensuring that the After School Program meets all program guidelines. The After School Director must be able to plan and organize a structured program consisting of educational and recreational activities according to age group, supervise staff and maintain a high level of communication between school administration, staff, and supervisors. The After School Director must ensure a high level of quality programming, and work to establish and build strong relationships. The After School Director will exhibit positive role model qualities in all aspects of their interactions and will continually maintain and be an example of Discover After School’s mission and core values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent service to all students, families, co-workers, and school administration.
- Maintain accurate records pertaining to licensing requirements, staff/child health and safety.
- Supervises/schedules staff to ensure adequate supervision of children and effective implementation of scheduled activities.
- Meet the physical, emotional and educational needs of the children in their care.
- Work in a team environment, build and maintain healthy, cooperative relationships.
- Communicate positively and effectively.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures both organizationally and departmentally.
- Model positive behavior and educate children in a manner which contributes to mature and responsible behavior.
- Implement the curriculum and schedule provided on a daily basis and provide feedback to such on a weekly basis.
Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening.
- Satisfactory Drug Screening.
- High School Diploma.
- Complete all Discover After School and governmentally required training in the required time- frame.
- Completion of 45 Hours of DCF Child Care Training.
- Six months' experience in a supervisory position.
Skills:
- Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills in English is required.
- Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Spanish is a plus.
- Willingness to learn.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate at a high level to both children and administration.
- Ability to problem solve and critically think through daily situations.

- Be knowledgeable and adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Perform additional tasks as needed or requested.
Monday - Friday
Morning Care - 6:45AM - 9:00AM
After Care - 2:00PM - 6:00PM
*All positions are part time with the possibility for full time hours*
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on credentials and experience.
