About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Science Analyst to join our team at Discover Financial Services. As a key member of our Operational Risk team, you will play a critical role in strengthening risk management by providing data-driven insights into Operational Risk trends, control effectiveness, and financial impact.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing advanced analytics solutions, including customer segmentation, optimization, test & design of experiments, and prescriptive analytics to solve business problems. They will operate as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis, test and design of experiment, analysis methodology, modeling & application, and financial impact analysis.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing Operational Risk Event deck for committee reporting - tracking open ORE volume and dollar trends, highlighting improvements, and identifying areas needing governance enhancements.
- Enhancing Risk Reporting and Analysis - offering a long-term view of risk resilience, historical trends, and customer impact.
- Enhancing the Operational Risk Profile - providing a structured view of risk categories, root causes, and control effectiveness, supporting a more resilient risk framework.
- Producing Ad-Hoc Reports and Dashboards - delivering critical risk insights to support decision making and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, or related.
- 2 years Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Marketing Analytics, Optimization, Operations Analytics, Modeling/Data Science or related.
