About the Role:
The HR Compliance & Employee Relations Intern will play a key role in supporting HR operations by ensuring compliance with labor laws and enhancing employee relations processes. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to legal and policy-related HR initiatives while participating in both current and upcoming strategic HR projects. Interns will gain experience in audits, workplace investigations, policy development, compliance training, and other essential HR functions. This part-time, remote, six-month internship requires a commitment of 20 hours per week and is unpaid. However, there is potential for compensation to be offered after the successful completion of the internship and a performance review, if an extension is granted. This role is ideal for students seeking college credit who are looking to expand their knowledge in HR compliance and employee relations, particularly in the healthcare sector.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on local, state, and federal labor laws to support HR compliance initiatives and reduce legal risks.
- Assist with reviewing and updating employment contracts and HR policies to align with current legal standards.
- Support audits and investigations to identify and address compliance gaps, ensuring adherence to labor laws and organizational policies.
- Provide assistance with resolving employee inquiries and workplace disputes in an efficient and professional manner.
- Collaborate on the development and distribution of communication materials related to employee relations and compliance initiatives.
- Assist in creating training materials to educate employees and managers on workplace policies and legal requirements.
- Participate in special HR projects, including employee handbook reviews, policy updates, and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Employment Law, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Legal Studies, Public Administration, Organizational Management, or a related field (strongly preferred).
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze and synthesize complex legal information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
