Position Overview
DiscoverU Health is seeking a motivated and creative Social Media Marketing Internship to support our efforts in building a strong online presence and engaging our audience. In this part-time, 3-month unpaid internship role you will focus on leveraging social media platforms to enhance brand awareness, drive engagement, and support our mission of improving health equity in minority metropolitan communities across the nation. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for marketing, content creation, and making a meaningful impact in healthcare.
Upon successful completion of the internship, there may be an opportunity for a compensated role based on performance, contribution, and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Marketing Strategy
- Assist in developing and executing social media marketing strategies across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Collaborate with leadership to brainstorm and implement marketing campaigns that align with DiscoverU Health’s goals and mission.
- Identify trends and audience insights to optimize content and increase engagement.
Content Creation & Scheduling
- Design and schedule engaging posts, stories, videos, and graphics tailored to our target audience.
- Develop and manage a content calendar to ensure consistent posting and brand messaging.
- Ensure all content reflects DiscoverU Health’s branding, tone, and values.
Community Engagement & Growth
- Interact with followers, respond to comments and messages, and build relationships with potential clients, candidates, and partners.
- Use creative strategies to grow our social media audience and strengthen community engagement.
Analytics & Performance Tracking
- Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and Instagram Analytics.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness and audience engagement.
Brand Advocacy & Innovation
- Stay up-to-date with social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure DiscoverU Health remains innovative in its marketing efforts.
- Act as a brand ambassador by promoting DiscoverU Health’s mission and initiatives online.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Basic understanding of social media marketing principles and analytics tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a creative eye for engaging content.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements
- Portfolio samples showcasing your previous work (required).
- Ability to submit daily/weekly progress reports and attend weekly virtual meetings.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Knowledge of video editing software for short-form content.
- Interest in or experience with healthcare marketing is a plus.
