This Discovery Canyon Campus Building Manager will assist the Building Engineer in overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of our PreK-12 Campus. This position will work Mon-Fri 1pm-9pm in order to help lead our large facilities team. This person may be needed to adjust hours from time to time in order to help meet the needs of the campus. Support with outdoor snow removal will also be part of this person's role.
Ensures the overall cleanliness and safety of their facility by supervising, training, and evaluating personnel, submitting accurate and necessary work orders, and monitoring contracted services if required, perform maintenance, cleaning, and set-up requests generated by staff; responsible for the maintenance of the location

  • Reports consistently for work as scheduled
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards
  • Assists administrators with emergency plan of securing building in crisis situation
  • Assists in cafeteria and other areas during the workday assignment as directed
  • Assists in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of members of the custodial staff
  • Assists students and staff with items such as lockers, doors, desks, lights, etc. and performs minor repairs as needed
  • Assists with safety drills, scenarios, and real-life situations as needed and directed
  • Assists with the management of the district chemical product management plan and updates SDS manual.
  • Attends training and in-service meetings to include technical training as necessary
  • Checks and replaces ceiling tiles and light bulbs as needed
  • Cleans hazards, including bodily fluids, spills, etc. per best practices and current regulations
  • Cleans, dusts, and straightens desks; cleans counters, toilets, sinks, whiteboards, cove bases, blinds, walls, furniture, vents, windows, mirrors, carpet, floors, and other items as needed and assigned
  • Coordinates and assists in preparation for school functions
  • Develop an effective work force by supervising, training and demonstration district approved cleaning and restorative methods
  • Ensures facilities are safe and operational for students, staff, and the community
  • Ensures the building is opened at appropriate times, raises and lowers flags
  • Keeps building(s) and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, athletic and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
  • Keeps cafeteria area free of spills, etc., during lunchtime
  • Maintains an inventory and recommends purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Maintains master list, controls and assigns keys for building and equipment to all staff
  • Maintains records and reports on inventory, equipment, and the status of current projects
  • Maintains the safety of playground equipment and surfacing materials
  • Monitors water, electrical, sewer, HVAC, etc. and assists in emergency shut off as needed
  • Moves, relocates, and transports materials, furniture, and equipment as needed and assigned
  • Mows lawns and trims and edges around walks and structures as directed
  • Performs any duties as assigned associated with building upkeep including painting, and other non-routine maintenance tasks
  • Performs crossing guard duties as directed
  • Plans and oversees, sets up, arranges, and breaks down equipment used for various functions at the location
  • Plans and performs minor maintenance repairs to the facilities and systems and reports major discrepancies
  • Prepares work orders and reports and solves maintenance problems before they become emergencies
  • Processes internal work requests submitted by the teaching and administrative staff
  • Promotes an efficient building by understanding and implementing sustainability management strategies as required
  • Recommends and orders building painting supplies and paints accordingly
  • Removes and disposes of trash in facilities and on grounds
  • Reports minor and major building and facility-related discrepancies or areas of need
  • Reviews and develops cleaning standards and methods
  • Sanitizes rooms and facilities where applicable, including but not limited to restrooms, water fountains, gymnasiums, pools and locker rooms, etc.
  • Sets up for regular and special events as directed
  • Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks and steps as appropriate
  • Vacuums, shampoos, sweeps, strips, buffs, dusts, mops, etc. floors and stairs as needed
  • Works with outside vendors and local code agencies performing building maintenance functions
