Qualifications:

- This job requires periods of standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, turning, twisting, bending above and below the waist, use of hands and arms, lifting, talking, hearing, use of computer and keyboard. Must have the ability to use both hands in fine manipulation of small tools; the ability to see well enough to read handwritten and typewritten materials; push/pull up to 10 lbs.

Key areas of responsibility
Shift Lead:
- Demonstrate leadership and motivate staff to exceed expectations of visitors, ensuring a warm, safe, welcoming visitor experience is at the forefront of all interactions.
- Assign museum zones of care to each Visitor Services Team members and offer support to ensure zones are maintained.
- Manage all meal and rest breaks for the Visitor Services team.
- Ensure that opening and closing duties and checklists are completed by the Visitor Services team. Submit checklists to the Visitor Services & Family Engagement Coordinator at the end of each shift.
- Address and solve visitor issues and incidents, and report significant concerns to the Visitor Services & Early Childhood Coordinator team.
Exhibits, Programs, Outreach:
- Assist in the implementation of Discovery Center exhibits & programs across departments to ensure impact and outcomes are meeting current standards and are innovative, inspiring, and of the highest quality including but not limited to:
- Help plan, facilitate, and evaluate public event activities and public programs, such as Cultural Free Days, Special Events, Floor Programs, and Added Value Days.
- Assist with all other initiatives, such as leading stations on field studies, birthday parties, and after hour rentals.
- Help facilitate the maintenance and upkeep of exhibits
Other Duties:
- Assist with other duties in the museum as assigned
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Attend Education and Visitor Services meetings

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 34 per week
