What are the responsibilities and job description for the STEM Teacher K-8 position at Discovery Charter School?
Job Description:
The STEM teacher will implement problem-based learning strategies for K-8 students, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Additionally, the teacher will lead Discovery’s initiatives to achieve IDOE STEM Certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Plan, develop and execute STEM lessons through project-based learning methods for K-8 students.
2. Adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of students.
3. Work directly with Administration develop and implement and evaluate STEM initiatives in accordance with IDOE STEM Certification guidelines.
4. Attend professional development and training related to the STEM Certification goal.
5. Organize, develop and coordinate evening STEM events and activities for the school and community.
6. Build strong and sustaining relationships with students, families, other school personnel, and community partners.
7. Be creative, enthusiastic and have a passion for helping students reach their personal best.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Holds a current Indiana Teacher License.
- STEM License preferred but not required.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with other professional staff as well as families.
- Must be able to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of all students.
