What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Three's Teacher position at Discovery Clubhouse?
We are seeking a vibrant and dedicated Early Three's Teacher to join our team at Discovery Clubhouse by Northstar Preschools. You will play a vital role in educating, caring for, and inspiring the young minds in our program. Through a combination of creative teaching methods-such as artistic expression, educational play, and storytelling-you will help children develop foundational skills, including the identification of shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. Beyond academic learning, you will nurture their social and emotional growth and help them learn to understand and regulate their emotions.
To succeed in this role, you'll need patience, compassion, and energy, as you'll be guiding a diverse group of children with varying needs, abilities, and emotions. You should also possess strong organizational skills to plan and execute curriculum while documenting and reporting on each child's progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a curriculum that supports children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Foster self-expression through flexible teaching approaches and positive behavioral reinforcement.
- Model appropriate behaviors and help cultivate secure, trusting relationships with the children.
- Contribute positively to the children's social interactions and classroom dynamics.
- Maintain clear, ongoing communication with parents, including documenting daily activities in Smartcare.
- Adapt the program to suit the unique needs of individual children or groups.
- Assist with potty training and diapering as needed.
- Attend parent-teacher and staff meetings, collaborating with colleagues and management when necessary.
Qualifications and Expectations:
To be considered for this role, you should meet state-required professional development standards and be able to pass a background check. A high school diploma is required, while a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is highly recommended(obtainable after hire). Strong communication skills and a passion for nurturing young children are essential. We also expect all staff to be CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain certification upon hire).
In this role, you'll be responsible for guiding children through key developmental stages, helping them build positive self-images, develop social skills, and navigate group dynamics. You will also observe and assess each child's progress, ensuring that they reach their developmental milestones.
Finally, we value flexibility. You may be asked to assist in different classrooms at short notice. We expect our team members to embody the company's core values of maintaining a growth mindset, fostering a positive attitude, taking ownership of responsibilities, leaning into servant leadership, and striving for excellence in everything they do.
